The Natus InvestigatorSponsored Research (ISR) Program supports independent clinical research that advances scientific understanding, improves patient outcomes, and expands evidence surrounding Natus neurodiagnostic and neuromonitoring technologies. This program is open to qualified investigators and institutions seeking to initiate their own scientifically robust studies.  Please complete this form to submit your request. 

 

Program overview

Natus supports research that: 

  • Advances neurodiagnostic, neuromonitoring, and neurology clinical science. 
  • Addresses evidence gaps related to Natus technologies and disease states. 
  • Enhances clinical practice and outcomes in EEG, EMG, IOM, NICU brain monitoring, and related areas. 
  • Aligns with Natus research priorities and unmet clinical needs. 

 

Investigators maintain full responsibility for design, conduct, analysis, reporting, and compliance—consistent with ISR industry standards.  

 

Submission process

Step 1:  Submit a concept or full proposal by completing the below form. 

Natus accepts both concept submissions and full proposals. 

 

A concept submission includes:  

  • Short study title 
  • Clinical domain 
  • Primary technology or device 
  • Disease state / patient population 
  • Institution 
  • Requested Natus support 
  • Estimated budget 
  • Main scientific question / study rationale 
  • High‑level research design and setting 
  • Geography / primary country 

 

Concept approval is not a guarantee of funding; it signals Natus’ interest in receiving a full proposal. 

 

A full proposal includes:  

  • Study title, objectives, and hypothesis 
  • Scientific rationale and novelty 
  • Detailed methods and study design 
  • Statistical analysis plan, including sample size justification 
  • Description of Natus products involved (if applicable) 
  • Principal Investigator CV 
  • Line‑item budget 
  • Required regulatory or IRB documentation (as applicable) 

 

Step 2: Proposal Review 

Natus conducts a review among the leadership team for:  

  • Scientific merit and robustness 
  • Ethical and regulatory compliance 
  • Alignment with Natus research priorities 
  • Feasibility and expected clinical impact 
  • Budget appropriateness 

 

Step 3: Funding Determination 

Proposals that best demonstrate scientific rigor, strategic relevance, and patient value will be prioritized for support. Funding decisions consider:  

  • Expected impact 
  • Project duration and scope 
  • Cost vs. anticipated value 
  • Feasibility and regulatory requirements 

 

If approved, Natus will initiate a research agreement with the investigator’s institution. 

 

Step 4: Research Agreement Execution 

A formal agreement defines roles, responsibilities, data protection, publication expectations, and safety obligations. This agreement protects investigators, participants, and Natus while ensuring compliance.  

 

Step 5: Project Execution, Monitoring & Completion 

Investigators manage all aspects of study execution, including: 

  • Milestone reporting 
  • Safety monitoring 
  • Regulatory compliance 
  • Data collection and analysis 
  • Manuscript and publication planning 

 

Investigator responsibilities 

Investigators, as study sponsors, are fully responsible for: 

  • Study design and methodology 
  • Regulatory approvals (IRB, ethics committees, etc.) 
  • Patient protection and safety monitoring 
  • Data integrity, analysis, and reporting 
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and guidelines 

 

This reflects standard ISR expectations across the medical device industry.
